Allow some flexibility in the project schedule
Things often take longer than you may expect them to. The professional you’ve hired will give you a timeline for the project; however, delays are common due to the complex construction process. For example:
- Certain materials may take longer for delivery.
- Certain installations of materials may delay the progress because of needing to vacate during that application (e.g., clear coating hardwood floors)
- Scheduling multiple trade-specific contractors (HVAC, plumbers, electricians, countertop installers, glass installers, drywallers, painters, etc.) is often more art than science. Any delay by any of these sub-contracted entities could impact the schedule, leading to rescheduled times for others.
Flexibility helps ensure a smoother process with your contractor.
