About the NKBA

The National Kitchen & Bath Association is an international non-profit organization that serves and represents the firms and individuals involved in all aspects of the residential kitchen and bathroom industry. NKBA was incorporated in 1963 as the American Institute of Kitchen Dealers and changed its name to NKBA in 1983 to represent the entire industry.  

As the only trade association dedicated exclusively to the kitchen and bath industry, NKBA is the leading source of information and education for consumers and professionals alike. To date, the NKBA serves over 30,000 members and growing. The Association recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Mission Statement

The mission of the National Kitchen & Bath Association is to enhance member success and excellence, promote professionalism and ethical business practices, and provide leadership and direction for the kitchen and bathroom industry worldwide.

Goals

  • To become the leading information resources for developing and maintaining an educated work force, resulting in a higher level of professionalism
  • To identify, evaluate and promote emerging technologies for the benefit of members
  • To develop and implement consumer awareness and brand identification programs
  • To promote membership growth and retention
  • To monitor and influence the development of public policy and legislation to benefit the kitchen and bath industry

Chapters

NKBA has more than 60 chapters and 15 student chapters in North America . Each chapter is supported by volunteer leadership. The chapters are connected through a regional network to promote growth and development of not only the chapters, but also their members.

Programs

NKBA sponsors a wide range of programs for its members including educational seminars on kitchen and bathroom design, business management, and customer service. In addition, NKBA offers a certification program to individual designers who aspire to become Certified Kitchen Designers, Certified Bathroom Designers, or Certified Kitchen and Bathroom Installers.
